Our Program
Many of the families in our community have no external support for themselves or their children; Walnut Hill serves these families.
Quick Facts
Saving Families $300k
We serve approximately 70 students. This means we are saving the under-supported community over $300,000 a year.
ALICE Families
68% of our students come from ALICE families. These parents are working, make more than the poverty level, but do not qualify for most government aide and still make less than needed to satisfy a basic household budget. (Income range between 127% to 250% above poverty line.)
Parent Programs
We have a parent program that grants families access to financial planners, family social workers, business owners and insurance specialists free of charge. This program gives parents the tools needed to get out of debt, build better parenting skills, attain affordable insurance for their family, increase interview skills and build better resumes. The goal is to improve the students’ educational environment and their home environment.

Discounted Tuition
98% of our students receive a discount in their tuition. On average, we are $90 a week less expensive than other high-quality child care centers, which means we save families approximately $4,300 a year!
Level 4 Paths to Quality
We are the only non-profit, Level 4 on Paths to Quality (highest rank you can achieve), that offers an open scholarship program in Elkhart County.
Numerous Awards
We have received numerous awards for our service which include, 2015 – United Way of Elkhart County “Making a Difference Platinum Award”, 2017 – Early Learning Indiana “Grand Prize Family Engagement Award”, 2019 – Indiana Association for the Education of Young Children, “Hoosier Educator Award”, and 2019 – United Way of Elkhart County “HERO” Award. We were chosen as Goshen’s Best Day Care of 2022 and Elkhart County’s best Day Care of 2022.
A Positive Force
Walnut Hill positively affects both the present and future of the families in this community by providing affordable, high-quality care.
